There are 16,000 species of bees, Most are solitary insects, and only 5% are social and manufactured hives, within which there may be up to 80,000 workers, 2000 drones and one queen, who has a harsh dictatorship of pheromones, why can unleash deadly blows of honeycomb since the first queen to emerge from his cell kill their rivals, before they are born. The drones have a unique function of serving as breeding queens, but if the hive has a shortage of food, the workers are expelled. After mating, the drones die from a ruptured abdomen.

Queen mating continues until it gathers more than 100 million sperm from different drones laying 1,500 eggs a day. The queen was seen as king until 1660, when the Dutch naturalist Jan Swammerdam found to have ovaries. Bees can distinguish human faces. The word honeymoon derives from an old European custom in which newlyweds drank fermented honey for a month, aphrodisiac purposes.

The buzzing of bees is caused by the sound of their two pairs of wings beat 11,400 times per minute. Bees are moved at an average of 22 miles per hour, a high speed for its size is equivalent to a person moving at 90 kilometers per hour.

A bee trapped in amber is the oldest known, having lived 100 million years ago. During World War I, honey was used to treat the wounds of soldiers because of its ability to attract and absorb moisture, making it a valuable therapeutic agent. Honey never spoils, even within the sarcophagi of Egyptian mummies, with 4 thousand years old, honey discovered there was still edible. Along with the silk made by worms, both are timeless.
